About FreeCreditDisputeLetters.com
Our mission
FreeCreditDisputeLetters.com exists for one simple reason: fixing an error on your credit report should not cost money, and understanding your rights should not require a lawyer's retainer. We publish free, plain-English guides and ready-to-use dispute letter templates so that anyone can challenge inaccurate information, deal with debt collectors, and take control of their credit — without paying a cent.
Millions of consumers have mistakes on their credit reports, from accounts that aren't theirs to balances that are simply wrong. The tools to fix those mistakes already exist in federal law. Our job is to make those tools easy to find, easy to understand, and easy to use.
What we are — and what we are not
We are an independent educational website. We are not a law firm, we are not a credit-repair company, and we are not affiliated with any credit bureau, lender, or government agency. We do not sell "credit repair" services, we do not ask for your Social Security number, and we will never charge you for anything on this site.
Our letter generator runs entirely in your web browser. When you fill in a template, the details you type stay on your device — they are never uploaded to us or stored on a server. You stay in control of your own information at all times.
How we stay free
Creating and maintaining accurate content takes real work, so this site is supported by advertising. Ads let us keep every guide and template completely free for the people who need them. Advertising never influences the guidance we publish — our only loyalty is to giving you accurate, useful information.
Accuracy and consumer empowerment
Credit and debt topics are serious, so we take accuracy seriously. Our content is grounded in the consumer protections of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and guidance from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. We aim to explain your rights clearly, set honest expectations about what dispute letters can and cannot do, and point you to official sources so you can verify everything for yourself.
That said, we provide general education, not legal or financial advice. Laws vary by state and change over time, and every situation is different. For advice tailored to your circumstances, please consult a licensed attorney or a nonprofit credit counselor. See our full disclaimer for details.
